I am a special education teacher at a residential/day-treatment school which services students with severe emotional and psychiatric disabilities.
We are a special needs school.
My students, ages 8 through 10 years, come from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. They struggle with their emotions, social skills, and daily life. Like all kids, they need love and support. They need encouragement and to be motivated.
Given all the challenges in their lives, my students are great, loving, and caring students. They accept new challenges daily and work hard to complete each task. They are eager to learn, but they need as many tools as possible. Given the right tools, my students will make significant improvements in learning and daily life skills.
My Project
We love using technology in the classroom. An iPad would be a wonderful addition to our classroom; a chance for interactive fun while learning. We use many apps in our room to support grade-specific learning. Many of the apps are only available on iPads and we would love to use them more in our classroom.
iPads are a great addition to any classroom!
One use of iPad technology that we would use is iReady, which is only available on computers, laptops, and iPads. This will give us another support in our classroom besides computers. iPads are a lot easier to use for the younger students, compared to laptop and desktop computers.
