My Students

My fourth-grade classroom is a community of students with unique special education and English language learning needs. Throughout the year they collaborate with educators and each other to grow and develop.

My students learn to build upon their differences so each student can develop to their personal best.

We are a small neighborhood K-5 school that welcomes newly arrived students from around the world. These are children who are still learning their own language and now must work to learn English as well.

My Project

The iPad will allow my students to use various educational apps. Specifically, the Show Me app for iPad records students explaining their thinking and written work solving problems, decoding multisyllabic words, or drawing a series circuit! The possibility of recording their learning to share with the teacher, small group or even themselves is a powerful tool.

Additionally, the iPad offers flexibility to present new content to students when they return from absences.

Lessons can be prerecorded and watched upon their return. "Guest" teachers can more effectively implement teacher plans with these same prerecorded instructional videos. It's a win-win when learning doesn't stop!

Finally, learning how to successfully teach from afar is essential today. This iPad is one baby step in that direction.
