My Students

A typical day in the library is around one hundred students entering the library eager to read. My goal for the end of the school year is to have students excited about reading and understanding that there is an abundance of information at their fingertips.

My school consists of students from kindergarten to fourth grade.

Most of the students are from low social economic homes. Our school is filled with loving teachers that want these students to learn to their highest capabilities. Our school goal this year is for me to reinforce what the teachers are teaching in the classrooms. As a school we want the students to benefit from every minute during the school day.

My Project

Imagine coming in a library where there are no computers or card catalog to find a particular book. Well, that is my library. I was amazed that the children could not take a comprehension test or use the OPAC system (which is the new card catalog). I want the students to learn how to find a particular book. I want them to want to use the tablet to find a book on a topic that will get them excited about reading. This is my goal.

This donation will allow the students to gain AR points by taking the comprehension tests.

They will be rewarded at the end of the year for their points. The students will understand how to find a book in the library for research or information on a topic of interest.
