Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a teacher in a Title I school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite the many challenges they face, I am looking to provide a bridge in the learning at school and the learning at home.
My students are creative, kind, and very enthusiastic about learning.
They love to have fun while they learn and they learn best with activities that spark their interest. From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom I focus on their individual needs and growth. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.
My Project
This project requests one Apple iPad Air tablet. When my students master pre-reading skills such as letter identification, letter sounds, name writing, and sight words, they read books and take quizzes on them using a computer or iPad. I have so many students who read books, but often have to wait for a computer or an iPad to quiz. Having an additional iPad in our classroom will help my students quiz more often and allow them to read more books within the year.
When they become readers, they get so excited.
I want to help my students keep this excitement for reading by having them read and quiz on books more often. Having this iPad in our classroom will allow my students to quiz more and feel more confident in their reading skills. When my students quiz on one book they are allowed to choose another book to read and quiz on. With this iPad they would be exposed many more words and texts.
