Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

I work at an an elementary school in North Miami. My school is rated as Title 1 school which means 99% of students receive free or reduced lunch throughout the school year. Most students come from a bilingual home and their primary home language is not english.

My students are sweet and funny, and they make it a pleasure to come to work on a daily basis.

Each of them are on the autism spectrum and they have Speech and Language Impairments as well as emotional and sensory deficits.

My Project

My students need an iPad to help them complete their assignments in the classroom. It could also be used as a communication tool.

An iPad will help us to complete the required number of minutes of iReady lessons, Reflex math lessons and Teachtown lessons.

The students would be in a rotation on a daily basis so that they can complete their required assignments daily. The iPad could also be used to help these students listen to daily read aloud stories. They could also use it for games and interactive lessons. I would be able to download communication boards so the students who are non-verbal can use the iPad as a way to communicate their wants and needs to me or any other adult in the room.
