iPad for Adaptive Music Classroom
My students need need iPads to be able to experience playing an instrument. Due to their specific disabilities they are unable to perform on standard instruments.
Do you remember the joy of picking up an instrument and creating music? Be the change in these special needs students and help them create music all their own.
My students are special needs students who love coming to music class.
They really want to play on instruments, but because of their special circumstances they are unable to hold these instruments in a way that they would be successful. They are moderately to severely autistic in addition to a number of other diagnosis's. They love music class! When I see them in the hall way they always give me the biggest hugs, and ask "Is today Friday, are we going to music today?" The joy of my week is when these students come to music class.
I am looking to create an electronic band with these students. They are unable to hold acoustic instruments successfully and make a good sound because of their finger dexterity, so I plan on using iPads to assist them in creating their own music.
We will also be using these tools to record their voice and play it back for them to help with their language skills. Many of these students do not speak or use language as successfully as they could. Through this tool these students will be able to hear their own voice, and through guided instruction learn to speak clearly and more articulately.
These students will be able to use this tool in a number of other ways to help them develop and grow into higher functioning individuals.
Please consider donating to this project.
If you could see the joy on these students faces day in and day out I know you wouldn't hesitate. They are the sweetest kids you will ever meet. They love music so much, and would like to be able to play on instruments of their own. By donating you not only encourage their love for music, but through learning and loving music you will help them develop better language skills that will help them succeed in their lives.
