Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students in my class attend a Title I school, meaning that a majority of the students receive free or reduced rate lunch. Many students lack access to basic technology and at times books. This can make being a student in today's society challenging and is causing my students to fall behind their peers who have regular access to these materials.
Despite coming from a low-income community and lacking basic classroom materials, my students come to school ready and excited to learn every day!
Having grown up together, my students have become one big family and they support each other just like a real family would. It's clear that if these students had consistent access to technology and a wider array of books, they would rise above and beyond their full potential.
My Project
Our current distance learning is lacking an iPad that will serve as a digital white board. We are currently experiencing a time in which all of our interaction is done through Zoom meetings. The iPad will enable me to use the digital white board function in order to continue to keep students engaged in the lesson throughout our weekly meetings.
Prior to distance learning implementation, I met with my students face to face, using many visuals to stimulate the learning process.
I am currently unable to provide those same visuals because of the lack of a digital whiteboard.
I will be using the iPad in order to create visual tools to enhance my online lessons. This will include, interactive graphic organizers and visual vocabulary lessons.
