My Students

My diverse group of students is full of energy and eager to learn. They are building friendships and positive interactions to create a caring community. Most of my students come from low-income households and have limited access to resources. Many of the students have experienced hardships and enter the classroom with trauma. The class works hard to build a safe environment so that all students can achieve their highest potential socially and academically.

My students are building their learning stamina and having fun along the way.

Through Reader's and Writer's Workshop, they are building strong foundational literacy skills. My students also enjoy interacting with technology to grow their learning. They can show their skills in multiple mediums like pictures, videos, and voice recordings.

My Project

I was fortunate to get brand new iPads for the class through a grant. Now I need iPad covers to protect them so they can be used for many years. The iPads offer valuable experience learning how to use technology appropriately. The students are not just consuming but creating and producing work. The various apps offer multiple ways to practice and learn outside of the traditional methods. Students enter hundreds of digital responses throughout the week through pictures, voice recordings, and videos. Our class will also select their best work and put them together to create digital portfolios to present to family and friends. The iPads are important learning tools in the classroom.
