Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

"The number one benefit of information technology is that it empowers people to do what they want to do. It lets people be creative. It lets people be productive. It lets people learn things they didn't think they could learn before, and so in a sense it is all about potential. " Steve Ballmer

All the students at my school were "born for greatness".

Being "born for greatness" means that all the students at our school are open books and come to school ready to explore and fully engage in lessons that are taught in and out of the classroom. The school always does what's best for the students and "steer" towards the whole child concept when in all school settings. Our school is focusing on civil and environmental engineering as we transition to a S.T.E.M focus. There are many afterschool activities that students participate in and they are continuously giving back to the community that they live in.

My Project

We have the technology at our school to help us move towards the S.T.E.M focus and we need to improve how we use it. We have two class carts of iPads, but many lower level grades fear using the iPads due to the fact that they need iPad cases to protect. As a school, we are moving towards S.T.E.M certification and we want for our students to be more hands on. When you think about S.T.E.M some words may come to mind: explore, engage, 21st century, technology and innovation. In order for our students to be safe with technology we need iPad cases. Students will be able to research the information that they are learning with a hands on approach. They won't have to sit a computer or sit at a desk to make sure the iPad doesn't break. Students will be able to be mobile with the iPad and can be in different environments that will allow them to further explore the topic at hand.

The donations to this project will improve the classroom because it will help move the kids further along with understanding science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

This will change our students life because it will allow for them to get daily time to use the iPads in the classroom and get them on the right track for college and career readiness.
