Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our schools are in a low income, urban community. We are a Title I district with one hundred percent free lunch.
During school closures, I am providing a variety of content to my students.
With materials purchased from a previous project, I will be introducing my students to Fiber Arts. It is fun for all ages but requires clear instruction to learn the techniques. In order to teach the students properly, I need to have more flexibility in technology. Using an iPad I can video record my instructions with close up details of my hands and how to make the stitches.
My Project
With the right tools, I can better demonstrate techniques for my little artists to see and understand. We would like to do some work within Fiber Arts. I need to teach kindergartners how to thread a plastic needle and make stitches. They will need an up-close view and a clear audio connection.
Distance learning (and teaching) is difficult enough.
The better digital connection we have the better the learning can be. Stopping and starting trying to troubleshoot gets us off-topic and destroys momentum.
Looking forward to one day being back in the classroom this project will continue to be used as students will be able to use the iPad with the durable, kid-safe cover in the classroom.
