My students need an iPad case to protect our iPad and an Apple pencil to assist them with practicing sight words, creating a newsletter and blogging on the iPad.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I work at a diverse, urban, Title One school in Louisville, Kentucky. Our students are African American, White, Hispanic and others. We have many students who are learning English as a second language. Our school is in an area with high poverty. More than ninety-three percent of our students qualify for free or reduced-price lunch.
All the students I work with are struggling readers; however, despite their struggles, they are eager to learn and work hard each day.
My students face many barriers to academic success, but it is my goal to help them succeed and reach proficiency.
My Project
The iPad case will help protect our new iPad from wear and tear as students use it to practice sight words, read books and create our blog/newsletters. In addition, the Apple pencil will provide another way for students to practice writing and creating products to share on our class blog.
These tools will help my students to safely and independently use our iPad in new and engaging ways.
Having an Apple pencil will allow me to introduce my students to a large variety of apps and productivity tools, while making connections to the basic reading and writing skills my students need to learn.
