My students need 4 iPads for access to technology! Using iPads in the classroom will allow my students the opportunity to create and learn through multimedia presentations.
My students are from a generation where technology trumps almost everything. Their daily lives revolve around computers, cell phones, tablets, and iPods. To ensure we continue to move forward educationally, bringing additional technology into the classroom will be essential.
My fifth grade students have a love for learning.
Many begin the day with me, before the first bell rings, on one of five computers in our classroom that are operational. This is the time they practice their math, science, and literacy skills. This is also a time when they are free to ask for help or just eat their breakfast in peace. My students support and congratulate each other's successes. My students are compassionate and caring, and have created their own classroom family at school. They come from homes that are supportive and hardworking. I currently have 19 students whose abilities range, but the strength of their character is commendable. Hard work is rewarded and praise is earned. We are committed to taking control of our academic future and our future begins now.
My Project
My students will use these iPads in a variety of ways, with one goal in mind, to continue a forward motion of learning and understanding. iPads in the classroom will allow my students the capability of conducting research, reading online text, drawing and sketching information, creating books and podcasts, practicing and honing math, science, and literacy skills while engaging them in a medium where they perform second to none. Students will be able to use the iPads in small groups, or teams, or individually, guided and assessed by the teacher through the use of the Nearpod app.
Donations to this project will increase the probability that my fifth grade students will be engaged in learning through technology.
Providing my students with iPads will allow them to go beyond the classroom walls to gather the information they need to think, wonder, explore, and learn.
