My Students

My school is located in Limestone County in North Alabama. There are 985 students who are in grades 6-12 and is considered a low poverty school. The Senior class has the least amount of students (11.7%) and the Sophomore class has the most (16%).

Due to the impact of COVID-19, chronic absenteeism was reported at 12.94% while the state of Alabama reported 8.27%, a significant increase.

Students of color suffered the worst absenteeism: 16.7% Black or African American, 16% Hispanic - ELL Students 20%, Students with Disabilities 19.8%, and Economically Disadvantaged 17.6%

According to statistics taken from the Alabama State Department of Education website, the latest report card for Ardmore High School shows 91.88% of the student population is White, 1.8% Black, 4% American Indian Indian/Alaska Native, 1.3% Two or More Races, 0.7% Asian and 0.3% Native Hawaiian/Pacific Islander.

My Project

Students will use these models to illustrate and communicate the role of photosynthesis and cellular respiration as carbon cycles through the Earth. This activity will allow students to explore and analyze atmospheric carbon dioxide data over the past 800,000 years, then play a game to model some of the impacts on the carbon cycle. This is a great unit plan that will benefit all types of learners, especially special education and kinesthetic learners. It also includes a 1-year access to digital resources, a teacher manual, student guide, pre-lab activities, support videos, simulations, a post-lab analysis and assessments. It aligns with my state's course of study and supports NCSS for 3-dimensional instruction.
