This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I currently teach an amazing group of 2nd graders who I know will become world changers with their unbounded wit and magic. My students come from diverse backgrounds and I would love to be able to support their various learning styles and interests with the resources in my classroom. They are enthusiastic about learning and as such give me the joy of being their teacher.
I want each of my students to know that the world is theirs and they are prepared to conquer it!
My hope is that they are imbued with excitement for every discovery of knowledge in all instructional areas.
My Project
The use of Chromebooks is almost a daily activity in my classroom, particularly in math and ELA/Writing. When students are broken into small group/centers rotations, they are split into varying group activities; as such, technology is part of one of the rotations. During technology time, students can read and/or listen to books at their instructional level. This allows struggling readers to gain confidence in their comprehension as they grow as readers. More so, students are assigned targeted remediation or enrichment work, tailored to their skill set.
As 21st Century learners, students are able to use the HP Chromebooks as part of their online research tool and begin to learn how to type their research papers through platforms like Google Docs.
Having chromebooks gives students an opportunity to investigate their world in science and social studies. Students can continue to investigate the habitats of animals or life cycle of a butterfly in our upcoming Science investigations in January. Additionally, they will be able to increase their geography knowledge as they learn about continents and countries. By having Chromebooks, students will be able to gain real life skills and knowledge they can tap into as contributing citizens of their classroom, school and world.
