Help me give my students books that will help them learn financial literacy. These books will cover topics such as saving, creating a budget, managing debt, and investing.
My students are high achievers who take their learning seriously. They are enrolled in at least two Advanced Placement (AP) classes, if not more.
They are seniors in high school about to graduate and enter the adult world.
They have taken every class possible to prepare them for life after high school. Unfortunately, the state standards do not require personal finance, and many students are not yet capable of simple tasks such as budgeting or understanding debt. They are eager to learn and often ask me questions to help them understand the basics.
My Project
These books will help me build a library to teach my students about financial literacy. My students will pick a book to read at home, participate in reading circles with students who read a similar book, and share what they learned from each book with the class.
Money can be a difficult topic to talk about and many of their parents shield them from money matters.
These books will give my students an opportunity to discuss important topics such as budgeting, credit card debt, and saving.
After reading and discussing these books, my students will have a better understanding of how to manage money and make choices that will give them greater financial freedom in their lives.
