This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I teach a classroom full of students who are eager and excited to learn as much as they can! They are full of questions, ideas, and enthusiasm! I want my students to keep this energy for learning alive.
Giving my students personal purpose in learning helps ignite their own desire or love to learn, even when the tasks gets difficult.
When they leave my classroom, I want my students to be energized and self-motivated to continue to learn and grow. Let's change the world together, one child at a time!
My Project
So many students believe all the answers are..... "Just look it up on Google," or "Go ask Alexa." My students need to know that many of the wonderful things we have now came from someone's mind first. It is one of the most wonderful teaching experiences to see my students' sense of wonder when they realize that people like Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, and George Washington Carver did not use Google to figure out how to create their inventions.
The goal of this project is for my students to realize that they can take an idea from their minds and make it into a real life creation.
These student creations will be reminders that their ideas are important and can make real life changes!
The students will write narrative stories about a character that they make up. The stories will be illustrated by the students and then spiral bound.
We will be using the Budsies company to build real stuffed creatures from the drawings that the students create.
Having my students create a "character' form their narrative story and have it be made into a real life stuffed creature will be amazing!!
