Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students all have big eyes that glisten in the light. They live in an extremely poor neighborhood and it does not faze them. My students cry when it is time for vacation. They stay behind when the day is over. I often find one or two hiding in the coat closet. They want to be in school.They are starving for more knowledge, more safety, and more consistency. They feel safe in our school. They feel safe with their teachers.
As their teacher, I am a conduit of knowledge, order, and respect.
I have a big responsibility to bring the world to them and hold their attention within our room.
My Project
These five iPads will be used in a cooperative learning group by second grade students. The iPad timecwill be used for a math program call ST math. This program allows students to intuitively solve common core math problems. Students are not given directions but rather solve problems through trial and error. This prism is very fun and colorful. When students are solving these math problems they are able to work together o figure out the strategies needed to move forward. There is a homework piece that makes it possible for families to connect with child’s math as well . The iPads make it possible for students to access this program .
