Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My class consists of 16 eager learners. 9 are sassy, super smart girls and 5 witty boys who are very outspoken. Our classroom is made up of students whose background is Puerto Rican, Mexican, Dominican, French Creole and African American. Many of our students come from homes where English is not the primary language so they are bilingual. We are a Title 1 school which means that most of our students come from homes that are below the poverty line. In my classroom I want to provide my students with every opportunity possible to succeed. I like to believe that we create an environment of creativity and a journey to explore the unknown with endless possibilities. We nurture an environment of respect of all opinions, ideas and thoughts.
My students learn from each other by working with partners to create projects and solve problems.
We are learning about our community and how we are all unique and yet have so much in common in our traditions, culture and similar interests. Our goals are to work together to optimize our learning and share the knowledge with our friends and family.
My Project
Due to limited funding, it is difficult to provide my students with the additional resources they need to progress academically.
Experience with iPads will give our students access to technology which will help equip them with skills necessary to be successful as they progress through their academic career.
These resources, iPads, headphones, and accessories, will make a difference in my classroom as they will allow us to explore many ways of learning different subjects like; math, science, reading, and writing, which the internet gives us access to. iPads also have wonderful apps that are tailored to keeping students engaged with learning and fun, and the more engagement we can capture the better.
