Our classroom has 20 Head Start preschoolers. They amaze us everyday with how quickly they absorb information and how they apply new knowledge. They are curious and creative. Our program serves low income families. We are dedicated to preparing the children for success in school and in life.
We know the road between preschool and high school graduation is long, but we want to instill our four and five year olds with the confidence and learning skills to eventually pursue higher education and careers that will benefit them and our community.
We are excited about the STEM movement in education. We believe the best time to get the children motivated to be problem solvers and inventive thinkers is as preschoolers.
In pursuit of this goal, we would like to have a STEM center in our classroom.
It will have materials that encourage the children to explore mathematics, coding, engineering concepts and science.
Preschoolers learn best through hands-on experiences. The activities such as, the Design and Build Engineering Centers, the Tree House Challenge and the Water Play kit will inspire them and develop core skills. The Bee-Bot Programmable Robot will introduce them to programming.
