My Students

The students in the robotics class are part of a school that is a rigorous, college-prep high school. Even though the school has high performing students and these students are very driven, the school is short on resources. However, this does not limit the enthusiasm of the students.

The students in the robotics class are extremely inquisitive and driven to succeed.

During the school year the students will learn many different concepts such as the history of robotics, the engineering design process, coding, tool safety, and mechanical design. The students in the class will take part during the year in the First Tech Challenge. The students in the class will take on different roles during the competition season, such as drivetrain development, coding, and documentation. The students will compete several times during the year and perform admirably based on their skill set and materials on hand.

My Project

This year the Robotics team has made the jump from a club to the classroom. The students on the team this year will be going in much more depth into the world of robotics. With this in mind, the students will still need the equipment necessary to design and build their robot. The kit being asked for will provide the students with the motors, controllers, and electrical and structural components to make this happen. Without these materials the students can not successfully show their talents in robotics and engineering. As the game changes each year in the FIRST Tech Challenge the students in the class will need new materials to meet the new demands of the competition.

The FTC robotics program provides students with a real-world application of engineering and robotics.

Because of the school's involvement in the FTC program many students have gone on to fields in science and many to engineering specifically.
