My students need new guitar strings, picks and pick guards for guitar class.
This project expired on July 4, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
The students involved in this project are six graders that attend an intermediate school. Many of them come from an urban setting. In our district, funding is extremely limited. And yet, our music program has grown stronger every year.
My students always enjoy coming to music class.
It is a very important time during their day when they can be creative and work together cooperatively. The students get a chance to express their thoughts and feelings musically without feeling judged.
This year all sixth grade students will learn about and play the acoustic guitar. Twenty four guitars were donated to our school but they are in a state of disrepair. To make the guitars usable, the strings must be replaced and a number of pick guards glued back onto the guitar body. We also need picks and a tuner for the students to use.
Each student will learn and practice the basics of guitar playing.
They will learn to tune the guitar with a tuner, strum and pick basic melodies and chords. The students are very excited to get started.
