My students need STEM items like the Fisher Price Code-A-Pillar and expansion packs, Kidz Delight Smithsonian tablets, magnet set and five senses activity set to have a solid introduction to science and technology.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are preschoolers, kindergartners and first graders in a self-contained supported learning classroom. They are a very diverse group of learners with cognitive disabilities that require a smaller classroom setting to meet their individual needs .
They deserve the best, and I try each day to deliver just that!
Despite any limitations they may face, my students are an enthusiastic group of children who love to try new things and get very excited when we get to introduce something new. I have a friendly, inquisitive class that is eager to learn and a joy to teach!
My Project
I am so excited to introduce my students to the amazing world of STEM activities! The code-a-pillar and additional pieces with allow me to provide a hands-on approach to coding that will engage my students and allow them to interact with the effects of changing around the different pieces. The five senses kit will also be hands-on and visual, increasing their understanding of how their bodies work and tie directly into our curriculum.
My students , due to their needs, respond very well to activities that engage multiple senses!
I'm excited to see their learning and comprehension soar as they engage with the Smithsonian tablets and EduQuiz set. Touch points, lights and sounds keep them engaged longer and, as a bonus, will encourage speech development.
The jumbo nuts and bolts activity and construction engineering kit will allow me to differentiate activities while encouraging motor skills as children explore construction and engineering. The owl wobble is for a very special little girl that has limited mobility, but will be able to engage and explore cause and effect as she engages with the owl. And what child doesn't love to investigate magnets? I know this will be a favorite for the rest of the year!
All of these items will allow me to reach each individual child in my class as they learn through these exciting and engaging STEM activities!
