Introducing... Social Emotional Learning Workshop!
Help me give my students materials like a primary teaching easel, language builder emotion picture cards, and more, to support implementing a Social Emotional Learning Workshop.
I am the student affairs specialist at a school in Niles, Michigan. In my position I support kindergarten through eighth grade student's social emotional learning and behavior needs.
It is without hesitation that I say, the students and staff at my school are some of the most eloquent, driven and critically thinking people I've had the pleasure of meeting.
In a school environment with high expectations and innovative instruction, I'm consistently impressed to see what they come up with next.
My Project
I am beyond excited to start implementing a class that I have designed to support student's social and emotional growth, called the Social Emotional Learning (SEL) Workshop.
The materials and supplies that I am requesting are to support kick-starting this new social emotional learning initiative.
The SEL workshop will be added as a fifth 'special' to accompany the four specials classes students already take part in (art, music, gym, media) SEL Workshop will be offered to K-5 classes each quarter. Students will be taught in multiple shared spaces. I will use the Stages Learning Materials Language Builder Emotion Picture Cards Expressions, Conversation, and Situation Photo Cards for Autism Education, ABA Therapy set for the curriculum. Additional supplies I need include Expo dry erase markers, a USB adaptor, craft sticks, and carpet markers.
I will need to be able to "put the class on wheels" in order to reach as many students as possible with as much consistency as I can. The requested Grand Pack-N-Roll Portable Tool Carrier and Primary Teaching Easel will allow me to travel from class to class easily making it possible to teach far more students in a day.
During the workshop students will be taught culture building and teamwork, how to identify and name feelings (Mood Meter, RULER) and Conflict Resolution Skills (Kelso's Choice). All staff will receive training in SEL Workshop content so that the language and skills students learn can be applied building wide.
