Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend a Title I school and need a lot of resources that they can't afford. I've had students whose needs aren't being met by many people but I try my hardest to get the ball rolling! Many parents in my community work hard to provide all that they can for their kids but I want them to have a positive learning environment where curiosity is the focus.
My students are deserving, and I want them to be able to continue to learn through new unique experiences .
As an ancillary teacher I see over 800 students throughout the school year and hope that I can impact every single one of them.
My Project
Our classroom has gotten access to robots for older students, however our younger PK-1st graders have some difficulty understanding the importance and power coding has. The Botley coding robots will allow our students the ability to get familiar with patterns and skills necessary to grasp onto coding concepts.
Younger students are aware of coding and want in on what their older siblings are working on.
We have robots that have almost 1,000 pieces, and other robots which are highly abstract which can be hard for early childhood students to comprehend. We need these Botley robots to begin teaching coding to our students at an early age so that harder concepts are easier to teach as they reach higher grade levels.
