**Introducing** !!Captain Chromebook!! Helper of Students with Disabilities!
My students need daily access the technology Chromebooks supply in order to work on specific goals outlined in their Individual Education Plans which will help them to achieve academic mastery!
In my role as a special education teacher for grades 5-8; I serve 25 students - many whose first language is Spanish. Some students families are from Nigeria, Nepal, and other far away place. We are a school of immigrant families; of scholars, musicians, athletes and more.
I am grateful to have the opportunity to teach some of the most endearing, inspiring and eager-to-learn students in one of the most culturally and economically diverse neighborhoods in Chicago and the nation; where more than 80 languages are spoken among the community's residents - and my local neighborhood public school sits in right in the heart of it!
Learning a new language and adapting to a culture and environment can be a challenge - add to that a learning disability and the demands of the academics for a student with special needs and school can become especially trying.
However, as mentioned, my kids are always eager-to-learn, happy to meet the daily challenges, and willing to do their daily best to achieve their goals. They make me proud each and every day.
My Project
The Chromebooks in our progrect will ensure that all of my students' Individual Education Program goals are met by allowing them to access their online learning supports on a daily basis. Some of the skills they will work on with the Chromebooks are reading fluency, comprehension, understanding math concepts for the 21st century learner and social emotional learning goals.
Providing daily access to their support programs and both school and classroom websites on the Chromebooks will keep my students' progress growing at a steady rate and build their confidence to meet and succeed at the challenges they face in the general education classroom.
