My Students

I work at a Title 1 school in rural southern Virginia where the majority of my students come from low income households. Although my students may not have as many opportunities to use equipment at home, they love playing sports and doing activities with whatever they have.

My goal for my students is for them to have the equipment at school they may not be able to have at home.

The equipment I'm looking to obtain is a variety of sports balls.

My Project

My goal with having this equipment is to teach my students how to play football and volleyball. To start, I will teach each class the rules of the respective sports. Once the rules have been taught and learned, we will begin with the basics of each sport such as throwing and catching a football and how to properly bump, set, and spike a volleyball to name a few things. Once the basics of each sport have been learned, we will progress into playing full games of the sports. This will not only allow my students to determine if that sport will be something they would be interested in moving forward in their lives, but also a great way to be physically active. This project is related to my previous project that involved basketballs and soccer balls in regards to teaching my students how to play each game and having access to the equipment for other fun activities.
