My Students

“Our school beside the sea.”

The school is set within a very tight family-oriented community next to the ocean and at the base of the mountains.

Students are very eager to learn inside the classroom. They are also eager to share what they have learned outside the classroom as well. Many of the students come from low-income families. They come from a variety of mixed backgrounds because there is an International University nearby. They are very respectful of each others' cultures.

My Project

Our class has 2 iPads but they are getting old and a lot of the apps have stopped working with them. We need new ones to work on certain projects we have been doing in class. One project is introducing them to drawing scenes from their own written narrative stories with the pencil introducing them to digital art. Other projects incorporate art with science and social studies, drawing models. We use our iPads on field trips to take notes and pictures. Then we are able to write about our learning when we get back to the classroom.
