My students need books to read for our next unit because we don't have enough, district spending is frozen, and class sizes have increased tremendously.

My Students
Since my students are in a literature class in a large high school, books are many times not available for students to read. We are an average income high school, but currently, district spending has been frozen due to lack of funds. As a result, class sizes have increased to full (if not beyond) capacity.
The district is concerned about the lack of interest in reading, mainly due to access of computers, smartphones, etc.
We are trying to encourage our students to read more, but we need the resources to do this.
These students are great kids who will appreciate this reading project, but it will be impossible to do without enough books.
My Project
As juniors and seniors, most of these students have smartphones which distract them from reading instead of encouraging it. They are kids after all. As a result, getting students to read more is a priority this year, but getting the resources is a problem.
We currently do not have enough Into the Wild books for our next unit, and I want my students to experience reading a physical book instead of battling the electronic distractions that occur when they are reading online.
In addition, we will be comparing excerpts throughout the book with other pieces of literature that are mentioned in the book to develop common themes and synthesize ideas into essays. Not only will our focus be on reading, but we will also be writing about what we have read.
