Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My first grade students are smart, fun, and incredible. They are full of curiosity and optimism, and are incredibly fun to teach. Every day presents a new challenge, but each of the 27 kids I teach make them all worth it.
My students inspire me every single day with the grit and zest they convey.
I have high expectations for my students and they rise to meet them each and every day. These kids truly are amazing, and so deserving of what I am trying to give them!
My Project
Teaching at a Title 1 school can present certain difficulties, especially the broad range of abilities found in one classroom.
I believe that every child has promise, and I am very passionate about doing whatever I can to help children realize their true capabilities.
The materials I have asked for will allow my students a higher opportunity for success through small group interventions. Students can use whisper phones to hear themselves reading, which can help them to sound out words, as well as get kids excited about reading. Flexible seating gives students an opportunity to make a safe choice to improve their learning. The seats I have chosen will be especially used during reading times to help heighten reading excitement and success. The different intervention programs I have chosen will be used in small group settings, as well as one on one, to help students build their foundational skills in order to successfully reach their true capability.
