This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I am a resource intervention support teacher. My groups range from kinder through 3rd grade at a Title I school in Washington. Our school district is committed to putting scholars first and meeting them where they are academically and emotionally. 100% of my students qualify for free lunch. My students would greatly benefit from additional resources.

I want to create an enjoyable environment where students can be successful and thrive.

My students exhibit an eagerness to learn on a daily basis. Despite their economic backgrounds, they come to school with the expectation of receiving the best education. The love and care my students show towards one another brings a smile to my face daily. My students are brave, curious, encouraging, and inspire me each and every day. It is an honor to be able to watch them become lifelong learners. I am so lucky and thankful to be their intervention teacher.

My Project

Small-group interventions can effectively differentiate supports for learners who need extra instructional time in a specific area. The use of manipulatives in teaching mathematics and reading leveled books has a long tradition and solid research history on helping develop academic skills.

The reading leveled books and the manipulatives the students will be used for them to understand math and reading.

The use of leveled texts will enable my students to read at an appropriate text level that ensures comprehension is placed in the foreground of their reading. The ten frame dots and the dot books will help my students learn subtilizing and understand the crucial concept of making 5, 10, and 20. Children learn to recognize the number of objects in a group without having to count the objects.
