Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are thinkers, artists, and activists. They come to school every day ready and willing to learn. The school is located in a dense, immigrant community. Most all of my students are English Language Learners or former English Language Learners.
They understand that in order to make a difference in the world, they need to learn as much as they can.
They are first generation Americans or immigrants themselves. The community cares a lot about education and therefore my students come to school every day eager to learn.
My Project
My students need these Chromebooks in order to have different structures of learning in my classroom. They will be used for math centers and games, English language development, social studies research and collaboratively writing. We recently conducted a research project and students had to split 5 laptops between 30 students. This was frustrating for students and impeded their learning. Additionally, we have many students who are learning English. Having multiple working laptops will allow students access to resources to help them acquire language through audiobooks and games. Having these Chromebooks will provide digital independence and increase engagement in my classroom.
