My Students

Students who attend our school, a special admissions high school within the School District of Philadelphia, receive an education immersed with a global perspective. Comprised of a truly multicultural student body, our students speak over a dozen native languages and represent each of the city's eighty-seven zip codes.

International Day, a decades long tradition, gives students the opportunity to bring both their individual cultures and year long studies to life creatively through live performances and workshop style lectures, as well as the culinary and visual arts.

Our beautiful and historical building was built in the 1920s, needless to say without air-conditioning. Having a stage to perform outside will allow performers and patrons to enjoy the festivities comfortably.

My Project

International day, a decades long tradition, allows students to be fully immersed in the food, art, song, dance, and oral traditions of the world in which they live. It is on this day that the lessons taught throughout the year in this International Affairs school can "come to life" and be fully experienced. As the day continues to grow, and the entire school community strengthens, the day of celebration has outgrown the stuffy confines of our small, unairconditioned auditorium and must be moved to the school yard. In order to accommodate the live performances for all to see, we need a tent, cement weights, and a banquet table to create an outdoor venue.
