My students are smart, curious, creative, funny, hardworking, and friendly towards one another. My 18 students represent families all over the world, as well as a variety of learning levels. My school consists of over 1,000 students of diverse backgrounds. This can make teaching challenging because of the diverse learning abilities, but my students are always eager to learn. My students continually face obstacles head on and continually strive to do better. Their drive and passion for learning is amazing!
Each week in first grade we focus on a mode of writing. Often times first graders have difficulty articulating sentences and understanding the different modes of writing. I want to change that by giving my students and interactive writing station.
My students need two Chromebooks and writing tools to have an interactive writing station that will allow all students excel.
Creating an interactive writing station that has computers will give students the opportunity to use the Co-writer Universal tool and Snap and Read Universal tool to help with spelling, understanding, research, and articulation.
I want to have a classroom of children who get excited about writing instead of dreading it each day. I feel these materials will help my young journalists blossom into aspiring writers. The notebooks, pencil grips, and sharpener will get students excited about the writing process. The computers will have different apps to guide the students when he/she hits a writing roadblock. The computers will help student get his/her thoughts into coherent ideas.
Students will also be able to research many topics on the computers using websites such as Pebble Go to enhance our other subject areas. Having interactive computers will also help all ability levels with the Snap and Read Universal tool so that all students feel successful in his/her writing ability. Often times students know what he/she wants to say, but struggles to write it in a complete sentence. I hope to change that with my interactive writing station. I want my students to feel confident while writing and I think this is the key to student success.
