My students need white boards and stands to be used throughout the different school subjects.
This project expired on March 4, 2012.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My student are diverse in their culture, languages, and learning abilities. We have a high number of ELL students in our building. Motivating students to share has been a struggle. The use of white boards will help motivate those students to share in a variety of ways.
We have about 450 students.
In my grade level there is 35% ELL or recently graduated ELL students. We are a model school as far as state test scores and a model school based on our population. Our school has a high number of Russian, Ukrainian, and Somali students. We have more than 30 languages spoken in our population of students. Not only are we a model for meeting state standards in testing, we are a model school for behavior programs. We have other buildings visiting us to see how we do things often. I love our diverse students, parents, and teachers in our building.
I like to be a facilitator in my room. These boards will allow for quick sharing, modeling, and short exit tickets (assessments). In science, they could diagram a circuit for electricity. In math, they could create area and perimeter problems and switch with a partner to solve. In write, they could practice their spelling words given by a partner. In social studies, they could answer a question based on reading. There are numerous ways I would use these white boards in place of paper and pencil.
This will save time, paper, and pencils used throughout the year.
White boards are a fun way of showing thinking compared to paper and pencil. There is a wide variety of ways to use these boards in each subject area daily.
