Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students come from high poverty backgrounds, and many of my students' parents work long hours, sometimes at more than one job just to get by. The cost of living in this area is one the highest in the country, even in high poverty areas of the city. As difficult as it is to make a living, it is amazing to see how dedicated my students' families are in supporting their child's education. My dream and hopes are that my students will break the cycle of poverty in their family.
One important goal for me is to provide quality and engaging reading and math instruction for my students so that they will have a strong foundation to build upon for their future.
Interactive whiteboard technology can provide students with an extremely fun and engaging way to build their literacy and math skills. My students have many odds stacked against them, from poverty to language barriers to a lack of school provided technology so that they can access fun and engaging technology. It would be wonderful to be able to use an interactive whiteboard to build my students' literacy and math skills!
My Project
My school district is currently making many cuts across our schools and purchasing important technology is not a priority currently. It is very important for me to find ways to make learning fun for my students, it would be wonderful to be able to provide interactive technology lessons from the Promethean collection for Interactive whiteboards. The Promethean ActivBoard includes a collection of fun and engaging lessons that would help my students build important literacy skills. Research shows that students who are not reading at grade level by 3rd grade, will likely never catch up to their peers. This very sad statistic drives the biggest goal I have for my students, to go to the next grade with strong literacy skills. It is also very important to build my students' math skills, the Promethean interactive boards also include many engaging math lessons. Thank you so much for considering our project.
