Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In this age of advanced technology and video gaming, delivery methods of instruction have to be diversified in order to engage all of the students in a classroom. After all, students all learn in a variety of different ways.
My bright second grade students are from a low socioeconomic inner city area.
Despite hardships they may face at home, they come to school each day ready to learn. Additionally, over 85% of the students at our school speak a language other than English in their homes. Through differentiated instruction, they explore the curriculum areas of second grade. These English language learners do best when the instruction comes in a variety of methods.
My Project
Through the fulfillment of this proposal for interactive technology for my existing computer smart board, I can diversify my reading and mathematics instruction, involve and hopefully engage every one of my students in the process of learning. The technology selections cover key curriculum areas of second grade reading and mathematics such as phonics, non fiction texts, fact and opinion, sequencing and following directions, the calendar, time, money, place value, and even the solar system!
"To infinity and beyond!" The scope of this grant is wide but not nearly as wide as the imagination of my bright second grade class.
With the fulfillment of this grant, I will be able to immediately include the technology into my classroom lessons, as I already have and use smart board computer technology when I deliver instruction. Any contribution that you might be able to make to this project is greatly appreciated.
