My students need a wireless tablet that will enable them to interact with both live and still images from the computer which will enhance and engage students.
Teachers and students can utilize the wireless tablet to collectively draw, annotate, manipulate images, and interact with multimedia resources and applications. Instead of just looking at documents and images, students can be interactive and play a role in their own learning.
I have 192 seniors who are taking my government and economics course at a suburban public high school.
98% attend college out of high school. The students have the mind set of knowing that they are in a very competitive environment, and must be fully prepared to be successful in college and their careers.
My Project
Students will now be able to play an active role in their own learning. They will be able to manipulate economic models, government graphs and charts, and to more intricately dissect visuals. Graphs and charts are an important resource to teach students how current events and ever changing information is applicable to not only the classroom, but their lives. The tablet will enhance their ability to analyze the information and use critical thinking to make predictions, and solve problems. Through the tablet the learning can be as much student driven, as it is teacher driven. It will also enable me to move around the classroom and work with all my students, instead of being "stuck" near the computer.
Students will be engaged through active participation and will be able to better analyze the impact of government and the economy on their day to day lives.
The tablet will also help students to meet state and national standards of using technology to enhance student learning. Not only will 192 students be directly affected this year, but they will learn technology skills that will enable them to be more prepared for the "real world."
