This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As a teacher in a low-income urban district my students are faced with many challenges on a daily basis. Despite the issues they may face many of them are eager to learn and excited to start their journey of their next four years through high school. My students come from very diverse backgrounds and everyday I am in awe with how well they work together and support each other despite their differences.

It is the basic school supplies that can make a big difference in a child's education and with these supplies we can help to further a child's education and creativity.

I believe that a strong foundation in Algebra I is not only the key to a successful high school career but will also open the door to a post-secondary education. It is important to me that my students have all the resources needed to help make this possible.

My Project

Through the use of interactive student notebooks my students will be able to be more creative and have more ownership in the way they take notes in math. The supplies I need will not only help my freshmen students to better understand Alegbra I concepts but will also help to improve their organizational skills as well.

Rather then traditional textbooks these supplies will allow students to make their own personalized "textbook".

These books will not only be essential to learning Algebra I but will be something the students take with them throughout all their high school math classes.

In addition, due to the increase in my class sizes I am in need of 5 more graphing calculators to complete my class set. As part of our curriculum we incorporate the use of graphing calculators to help students learn how to better use the technology around them.
