Do you remember being in third grade with your math book open and not being very interested in what was going on? How about having your reading book in front of you and not really understanding what to look for in the story? My students need an eye catching, fun way to learn reading and math.
I have 17 wonderful and energetic students in my class.
There are 9 girls and 8 boys who love to learn and have fun. My students love our reading time. They get to choose what activity they would like to do for a set amount of time. This gives them the freedom of choice and they feel in control of their learning. In math, we also do stations after a brief whole group time.
My Project
My students are accustomed to using the Promethean Board. They love how interactive it is and they seem to pay attention to it much more than being stuck at their desks with a book in front of them. I believe that the interactive reading and math lessons will reinforce the skills taught during the year. They will give each student a chance to try it out and see how well they know the skill at hand. With so many electronic games the students have at home, I feel like we need to bring some of that into the classroom to keep the students attention.
These interactive activities will be a great learning tool in our classroom.
Students will get an extra boost in several reading and math skills. My students will be excited to learn more about reading and math while having fun at the same time. I would love for my students to get excited about learning. Won't you help us keep that excitement alive?
