My students need 10 interactive math software packages for our SMART Board and classroom computers.
I'm a Special Education Resource Room teacher in Brooklyn who teaches a group of 35 students with disabilities throughout the week in first through eighth grade. My school is a Title I school, and approximately 97% of its students receive free lunch.
Throughout the school day, I pick up students and bring them to the Resource Room for small group academic intervention in reading, writing, and math.
I teach six year olds and thirteen year olds, the alphabet and pre-Algebra . . . all in one day! The only thing all these groups of students have in common is their limitless energy and love of hands-on instruction!
It's 2013! My students should be exposed to technology in the classroom on a daily basis, as their future careers will undoubtedly require them to be computer-savvy. My school is unfortunately a little behind the times in the technology department but is quickly working to catch up!
This spring the Resource Room will be outfitted with a SMART Board! In order to maximize its benefits and incorporate this tool into instruction as often as possible, I need your help to obtain these 10 interactive math software packages that will be used in conjunction with the SMART Board and all classroom computers.
Whether my students are in need of basic number sense development or practice with pre-Algebra skills, this selection of interactive software will cater to them all!
With your kind donation, my students will be able to work on their math skills on our new SMART Board and classroom computers on a daily basis.
By helping to place these 10 interactive math software packages into my classroom, you will be providing students with disabilities with many opportunities for interactive and hands-on instruction!
