My students need basic supplies to make interactive social studies notebooks. We'll be gluing things like maps, diagrams, timelines and pictures into our notebooks to help us remember important information.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in urban Phoenix. They have dreams for their future and are energetic and fun-loving. They deserve everything life has to offer them, especially an excellent education, because they are human beings. These students show grit and steadfastness despite many of them having real challenges and pitfalls. They display kindness and generosity in how they treat one another, and ask for help when they need it.
I learn from the students I serve on a daily basis in their ability to overcome obstacles and persevere in the face of challenge.
My Project
Students remember things when they are visual, colorful and interesting to look at. This strategy will help my students retain more information rather than just handwriting notes, although there will be some of that too! Middle school students need help with creating great notebooks that they can study from to ensure academic success. When we use colored pencils to color code our notes, they are more memorable. When we can cut and glue images, maps and charts into our notebooks, they become more interactive and memorable. Studies show that we remember things when we write them down rather than use pre-typed notes. We are even more likely to remember things when we can tie images, colors, and other visual representations to them.
These supplies will help them make exciting and memorable note catchers.
