This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school was established in 2007 and houses grades 6-8 grades. We educate roughly 1,000 students with 50 percent of those students being on free or reduced-price lunch. We are home to a diverse set of students with 50% African American, 35% Caucasian, 12% Hispanic, and 3% other.
I believe all my students can learn they just need the necessary tools to do so.
I have students from all ability levels learning through hands-on activities, computer interaction and simulation, and cooperative learning. My students enjoy engaging in hands-on learning in my class in order to grasp concepts. With each unit that I teach models are incorporated into the lesson not only because they go along with the science and engineering practices, but it also teaches my students to analyze parts of things and explain how they work.
My Project
Glue sticks will help them to ensure that all their materials are securely placed in their notebooks so that they can use the interactive notebooks as a reference for the entire school year. Many students in the past have used these notebooks as a reference in high school.
These materials will help students to construct interactive notebooks in order to learn science content.
Colored pencils will help students to complete doodle notes, foldable, and graphic organizers that help them in retaining scientific knowledge. Based on my research doodle notes are a visual note-taking strategy that helps to increase focus and memory along with the learning and retention of newly presented concepts.
