Interactive Science Notebooks--Tap-N-Glue Caps and More!
My students need coloring pencils, glue, and Tap-N-Glue reuseable control glue caps in order to maintain a colorful and organized interactive science notebook.
Some of my students come to school with empty bellies and unwashed clothes. Purchasing school supplies is a concern so far removed from their means, it practically never crosses their minds.
My school is in a very rural part of Kentucky where incomes are typically low.
High integration of math, science, and engineering is very hard due to a lack of extra funding to support such endeavors. Many students don't have ambitions to do much outside of high school because they don't know what opportunities lie beyond the county line. They only know what they have experienced, and in a small town, job prospects are limited.
My Project
With the new implementation of the Next Generation Science Standards, my colleague and I are striving to find a way to replace our outdated and now mostly unusable science textbook. Our solution: Interactive Science Notebooks! The coloring pencils, glue, Tap-N-Glue reuseable control glue caps, and other supplies will go to help us create a useful, colorful, all-in-one reference guide for our students to use over the course of the school year.
Donations to this project will mean the students at my school have the resources that they need to complete creative and innovative science notebooks.
It is my hope that through these notebooks, I will be able to encourage scientific thinking and reasoning skill to help my students become better suited and prepared for the ever-changing scientific world in which we live.
