Help me give my students gain access to technology and interactive lessons and brain breaks via classroom projection by purchasing a Smart TV for the classroom.
My students attend school in a rural district where 88.1% of the student population identify as Caucasian, making up the largest segment of the student body. Females outnumber males 53% to 47%. Thirty-four percent of our students participate in the National School Lunch Program (NSLP). As of 2015, the percent of students at this school who pass the Wisconsin Forward Exams (WFE) across all subjects is significantly higher than average for Wisconsin, scoring 92.6% (almost 8% higher than the state average). This school particularly excels in Science with a passing rate of 93.5%. They also emphasize the importance of the fine arts and ensure their students graduate with a well-rounded education.
Interactive experiences have become the norm for students today.
Providing information in multiple modalities and on a screen creates a more engaging learning environment and allows teachers to present up-to-date materials from multiple sources as well as written formats.
My Project
Students have a need for entertainment in today's technological world. It is difficult to hold their focus or sharpen their mind with simple lectures or note taking. They have grown accustomed to instant access, materials presented on a screen and the ability to quickly manipulate the digital environment.
Having an interactive screen allows instant access, poll taking, video projection, Powerpoint notes and participation with the press of a button.
Students' love the anonymous participation and instant involvement that clickers and poll taking offer. They are highly engaged in learning games that can only be provided with interactive projection. The feel empowered in their learning when every voice can be heard and it is "safe" to respond because wrong responses are not attached to a user.
