Help me give my students new read aloud books. I have spent a lot of time building lessons around the requested books to use them as interactive read aloud.
Recently I had a desire to switch from my special education field to a 1st grade classroom setting. I was excited to have a class of my own. My own family and that is what they have become.
My class is filled with a bunch of 7-year-olds who have such a desire to learn and grow that they often surprise me.
They love to work hands-on and love to show their creativity through the things they can create.
I have known from a young age that I have wanted to be a teacher. I was inspired, pushed and encouraged by so many wonderful teachers who have supported me through my struggles of learning. These students are the center of my life, and I love to get down on my hands and knees to learn alongside them. The power of letting them explore and lead their own learning is truly magical.
My Project
I have requested a large number of books to help me support my students in social skills. I have been able to read these stories in the past at Barnes and Noble or at the library. Unfortunately, they were too expensive for my teacher wallet to purchase them all.
I would love to help teach them basic social skills that are needed in our everyday life through the art of read aloud.
My students love read aloud and as a relatively new teacher, I haven't built my collection yet. Please help me do so by funding my project to purchase books.
