The demographics at my school consist of 65% Black students, 30% Hispanic or Latino students, 2% White students, 11% English language learners, and 33% of students who have special needs.
Most students come from low-income households or live in foster homes and shelters.
Many families are single-parent households and working families. We are a Title I school in Harlem. All of our students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch daily. The students at my school are a mixture of different types of learners. My students come from a diverse community.
My hope is for my first-grade students to have all the supplies ready for learning in school and in real life!
My Project
Osmo is a great way to teach my students to use technology, while also building on their basic learning skills. The Osmo games are designed to feel like play, so my class will stay engaged in their learning. Since many of my students are struggling in ELA and Math, these interactive games aid in my instruction as they will help me hit each child's needs exactly where they are. They can work with a classmate to create different skill such as letter recognition, proper letter formation, work on phonemic awareness and much more!
With these Osmo items, my students will practice math, letters, literacy, and art in an engaging way.
The games will help my students learn and practice their letters, numbers, addition and subtraction, counting, drawing and coloring. The students will be able to focus on having fun while learning new concepts enhancing their attention to detail, creativity, social, emotional, cognitive, early literacy, memory, fine motor skills, verbal proficiency, greater imagination, critical thinking, learn empathy, problem solving & spatial reasoning. The sky's the limit!
