Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our neighborhood is just north of downtown Dallas. Because many of our students stay in our school from kindergarten to graduation, our campus has a family atmosphere. Our student body is made up of many English language learners and more than 70 percent qualify for free lunch. Reading is our highest priority. It is crucial for our students to build background knowledge and vocabulary in order to become fluent readers. For many English Language learners, this may only happen at school.
My Project
Math Interactive notebooks are spiral or composition notebooks where students can organize their notes about the days concept and practice basic skills.
I like to use interactive notebooks to allow my students to take ownership of what they learned that day.
The different pockets, flaps, and pull-outs allow me to accommodate multiple learning styles at one time. Each student will be able to express themselves through color and creativity as they illustrate their learning.
The resource I chose will help students review the specific lesson objectives taught that day. At the same time, the students are building a portfolio that will allow me to track their growth.
As an extra bonus, my resource is teacher created. I found it on the Teachers Pay Teachers website. You will be helping me and also supporting a teacher-created business!
