My students need composition notebooks, pens, stencils, glue sticks, and scissors to make their interactive notebooks a tool they enjoy using in the classroom.
I have the pleasure of teaching sixth grade students in rural Virginia.
Our students range in age from 10 to 13.
They are of varying academic abilities. Two of my classes are collaborative, which means there are a variety of needs in our classroom. My students and I benefit from having the support of a special education teacher in my room for two of my English blocks. Some of my students are above grade level, some are right on target, and some are below grade level.
My Project
Thanks to Donors Choose, last year we were able to get the supplies we needed to implement interactive notebooks in our classrooms.
Our notebooks have been an effective tool for delivering instruction and for student review.
We want to make next year's notebooks even better! We are hoping that with help, we can have access to additional notebooks and materials such as pens and scissors. Each year we hope to improve our project and take it to the next level.
Our notebooks give students a location to store their materials securely. They also use their notebooks to reference previously taught material (they can even take their notebooks to seventh grade).
