This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students primarily come from an underprivileged population in an urban environment. Many of my students do not have the resources at home to maximize their learning potential. It is my goal, then, to provide them with the best tools and resources possible for the time that they are in my classroom.
I believe that every one of my students can be college-bound, despite the fact that many of them come from families where this has not been a reality.
In order to achieve this goal, my students will need a variety of tools to meet their needs as individual learners.
My Project
I am requesting colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, and erasers to keep in table caddies for my students to use for their interactive notebooks for both Language and Science.
Fourth grade is unique in that students are starting to become more independent in their learning.
I want to offer my students a place where they can not only practice the skills we are working on, but also a tool they can use to reference past skills. I believe that interactive notebooks will be particularly useful toward this goal.
In order to achieve this, my students will need supplies to fully utilize their notebooks. These include scissors and glue to create the pages of the notebooks as well as colored pencils to fill in the pages, and erasers to fix any mistakes.
