This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
In my 8th-grade history class, I co-teach students who have various learning styles. These students enjoy reading articles about current events and debating about those events.
While in the class, students have learned to develop a mutual respect for difference of opinions.
Also, students have learned how to cite credible sources to support their opinions.
My students truly enjoy learning about what is happening in our state, nation, and the world. These students amaze me with the solutions they create for many of the problems which plague our society. Most importantly these students wholeheartedly believe in a society that respects and values all individual regardless of their cultural background.
My Project
Using interactive notebooks increases student comprehension and creates a sense of ownership in the classroom. My students love the variety of activities we are able to do with these notebooks. The notebook allows the students to self assess their understanding of concepts as well as give artifacts for teachers and parents to view.
At the beginning of the year, I supplied all my students with the composition books needed to start their interactive notebooks, however, I don’t have enough composition books to supplies every student with an additional one for the 2nd smester.
These students truly enjoy this strategy and I would love to continue this strategy throughout the year to measure students success. Also, the markers would help bring color to students’interactive notebooks which increase their memory of concepts.
